I am a weaver and I weave in a loom. I am also a spinster and spin on a spinning wheel. Apart from that I draw, photograph, use poetry and build a kind of collage with the different methods I use. Mixed media it is called.Weaving is a challenging technique and enjoyable but sometimes frustrating when I am trying to realize my ideas and concepts. Then the other methods come in and the work gets less frustrating (or the opposite). That is part of the challenge of being a creator i.e. an artist.
My concept is in the past, present and future. I think there is a lot to find in the past to understand the present and to be able to tell the future.
I like physical work as weaving, spinning and drawing are. I feel I put a great deal of myself into it by toiling at the piece.
As weft I use old garments that I cut into strips. That is recycling or rather UPCYCLING. I ennoble the rags. I make treasures. I make art.
